ABSTRACT

Medical society preliminary findings suggest that specific essential elements increase work engagement and compassion satisfaction among doctors. Patient satisfaction has also been impacted by the stressed situations in which physicians have been placed. The quality of work life is a quality measure adopted to balance stress levels at work. The Quality of Work Life (QWL) as a strategy of Human Resource Management has assumed increasing interest and importance. Analysis of the Work-Related Quality of Life scale (WRQoL) provides support for the psychometric structure of this instrument. The WRQoL measure uses six core factors to explain most of the variation in an individual’s quality of working life: job and career satisfaction, working conditions, general well-being, home–work interface, stress at work, and control at work. The results of existing studies on the QWL of nurses indicated dissatisfaction of nurses regarding massive workload, inadequate staffing, lack of autonomy to make patient care decisions, and performing non-nursing tasks.
