God’s delusion book
In this chapter, the author argues that religion is not always treated positively in video game narratives and game lore. Frequently, games will frame religion as fraudulent, violent and intolerant, born out of human ignorance and used as a tool of suppression of the many by the few. In this chapter, multiple examples are given of such criticism of religion in games. The author argues that, instead of a habitual defense of religion against such characterizations, it is much more beneficial to take these critiques seriously as they function as a necessary instrument for the self-cleansing capacity of religious traditions, on the whole, and that of Christianity, in particular.
