ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book investigates the exact impact of Brexit on particular parts of aviation law and to suggest how the UK’s withdrawal from the EU may be managed from this perspective. It reveals groups of legal acts that will be hit by Brexit and those which will be intact. The book also reveals groups of legal acts that will be hit by Brexit and those which will be intact. The European Council has issued its guidelines on Brexit in line with Article 50(2) TEU, and the negotiations of an agreement setting out the arrangements for the UK’s withdrawal have commenced. In the aviation sector, given the size of the UK’s market and its role in Europe, it will be especially hard to provide for an open, coherent and transparent post-Brexit market environment.
