ABSTRACT
A traumatic event leaving a deep impact on a person's life experience. Educators are not alone in this. Just recently, multiple high profile, professional athletes have come forward to share that their compromised mental health has taken a toll on their ability to play their game, which also happens to be their job. At first glance, a professional athlete is the picture of health, but should be a wakeup call to everyone. Any student exhibiting disruptive behavior has the potential to trigger feelings of being personally attacked, whereas criticism from a colleague could likewise be received in the same manner resulting in unhealthy responses. Hendershott Joe received an apology and the student received some time helping the administrative assistant with reorganizing her office. However, Joe had a colleague once who went into a full-blown tirade with a kid who called him a rather colorful explicative out of anger over a situation another student had initially escalated.
