ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the making of a finished 16mm and 8mm film print or video file for exhibition. The reader will learn the basics of editing a camera original negative through the use of cement splicing. It also covers the professional scanning of 16mm, 8mm, and Super 8mm film to digital video in order to finish the film electronically. A do-it-yourself guide on transferring film to video is also included as a low-cost option. There’s also a section on using a 16mm and 8mm movie camera and a computer screen to transfer edited video back to a film print using the traditional Kinescope method. New filmmakers will also find a list of 16mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm projectors.
