ABSTRACT

Irrespective of whether you are coaching in business, non-commercial, political, or community contexts, it is essential to have a strong appreciation of both strategic and intimate forms of relationship. Strategic interactions focus on goal and task achievement, whereas intimate interactions focus on closer connection as a desirable goal in its own right. Strategic interactions are typically the prime focus and the most valued in the corporate world. However, it’s clear that there will always be a balance of some kind and many corporate leaders and leadership teams recognise the need to pay attention to both.
