ABSTRACT

The relational skills set out in this chapter enhance social, psychological, and emotional capacities, which can transform the quality of relational connection and group interaction. In essence, they are about how to talk, listen, and become curious and interested in one another – a set of competencies it might seem that everyone possesses. However, life experiences regularly remind us that they aren’t always well developed and the need for enhanced relational know-how in all spheres of life remains an urgent priority. And when they’re insufficiently developed, it presents real obstacles to what is possible in terms of dialogue, group co-operation, conflict management, problem solving, and healthy, close, intimate relationships.
