In TS : please link chapter cross-referencesChapters 27 and 28 , I join up the principles, concepts, perspectives, and activities presented in earlier chapters and build a comprehensive set of practical guidelines for the Gestalt coach. These include: attending to the story and content whilst remaining attuned to process; tracking issues and bringing unfinished material back to the client’s attention; attuning to your clients’ characteristic ways of responding and their contact patterns; honing your observational skills and sharing what you notice in a clear, impactful, and non-judgemental manner; cultivating ‘context sensitivity’ in both the immediate and the wider field; staying with direct experience and intense emotional situations without seeking to shut down the client; tuning in with empathy and compassion; and helping people learn how to complete units of work, assimilate learning, and make meaning.
