ABSTRACT

The program presented in this book is meant to be used by school counselors in a school or a clinical setting with kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The groups should be broken up into two groups: one group should be kindergarten to grade three while the other should be grade four to grade five. While the provided lessons break the groups up at these grade levels, the counselor should feel free to mix and match according to their own students’ maturity levels and abilities. Membership in the group is based on the student having an individualized education plan (IEP), a 504 plan, or a suspected learning disability or learning challenge. The group is meant to be voluntary (at this age level it would be primarily based on parental desire for their child to attend) and should have anywhere from four to ten members.
