ABSTRACT
In this section, the author explores the topic of dyslexia in order to educate elementary school counselors about the disorder. The author explains that dyslexia is an often-misunderstood reading disability with a basis in processing deficits. Using research-based information, the author delves into the many different aspects of dyslexia including the etiology of dyslexia, symptoms of dyslexia and management of dyslexia. The author discusses these topics within a framework of school counseling. Bulleted lists are provided for ease of use.
