ABSTRACT

Social Policy Development examines the process of policy development in detail and then focuses explicitly on the ways in which social workers can intervene in that process. Explanations of policy practice approaches and examples of social workers engaged in strengths-based policy practice have been expanded. New exhibits with examples of social work students doing advocacy work have been added. The Case Study and Sample Action Plan, which lay out how to develop and implement strategies to influence social policies, have been updated and expanded. To augment the text’s other discussions of housing policy and the particular challenges facing young adults, the case study and action plan focus on youth homelessness.
