ABSTRACT

Start-ups are small companies, but they play a very vital role in a country’s economy by creating job and employment opportunities and also for ensuring equitable distribution of the nation’s wealth to reach all sections of the society. Entrepreneurship also ensures healthy competition and innovation culture in any society and economy, which is essential for the progress of the nation. Entrepreneurs are thus wealth creators and innovators by shifting economic resources from a lower to a higher level of productivity, and also by creating something of higher value from existing or even create something totally new. Entrepreneurship is not just launching a new company and making investment in new projects, but it is a mindset and also a set of personal and professional skills that foster the pursuit of innovation in business by exploring opportunities in the new economic environment by providing sustainable, scalable and innovative solutions to an identified existing or potential problem. This section introduces the core concepts of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs and start-ups, and their roles in society, responsibilities and tasks.
