ABSTRACT

Brock University’s Student Health Services also requested that Mirror Theatre create a series of vignettes addressing a variety of issues of mental health that they were aware of on campus. They would be shown to students as “conversation starters”. Denial and reluctance to seek help were major themes and were interconnected with establishing and maintaining support systems. We recorded some in the studio but because we wanted a campus ambiance, some were recorded on location. The videos would be used by Student Health Services, so a series of questions accompanies the videos on Mirror Theatre’s web page. We also suggest image theatre, stickies, hot-seating, and inner dialogue as possibly participatory drama techniques that could be used.
