ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief contextual overview of event types, impact areas, and contributing stakeholders. In particular, it discusses the roles and responsibilities of event organisers and host communities and their contributions to event management processes aimed at achieving a variety of event benefits. We discuss these contributions in the context of the newly designed Strategic Event Management (SEM) Framework which provides a managerial foundation for the remainder of this book.
