ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the expectation for gender pay equality to be achieved in the rest of the world. It examines different projections for closing the gender pay gap that are estimated by organizations. The chapter explores closing the gender pay gap predictions disaggregated by state and race. The Institute for Women's Policy Research estimates the length of time it takes women to reach gender pay equity. Using linear projection and the median earnings for full-time, year-round workers, if the current rate in closing the gender pay gap since 1959 continues, the IWPR estimates that the US will achieve gender pay equity in 2058. Black women have to wait over 100 years and Hispanic women over 200 years to achieve pay equity with white men! Timing for pay equity differs by state as well, with Florida being the first to close the gender pay gap in 2038 and Wyoming being the last in 2159.
