ABSTRACT

One of the significant debates among educationalists has been to do with whether knowledge about the brain can be helpful or useful in the classroom setting. It has been assumed that when teachers imagine learning about the brain, they will expect it to help them with lesson planning, curriculum design or behaviour management. Teachers need to know this, we need to keep talking about it, keep sharing these ideas that the teenage brain is changing and developing. When coming to a workshop about the teenage brain teachers do not imagine they are going to get useful tips about curriculum design. As far as training for teachers is concerned, the dilemma has always been how to balance the different aims of a workshop. There is no doubt that emotional health and well-being remains a key concern for all schools.
