ABSTRACT
After stating the key facts and clarifying some conceptual issues regarding social evolution as a phenomenon in chapter three, this chapter offers a coherent and systematic statement on the Social Evolution Paradigm (SEP). A coherent and systematic statement on SEP not only provides the foundation for applying SEP in empirical inquiries more rigorously but also paves the way for critically examining existing applications of evolutionism to the understanding of human society in chapter five.
