ABSTRACT
This chapter gives definitions for the term ‘green industrialisation’ as well as several other closely related terms: green economy, green growth, and green jobs. Definitions for these related terms are given because this could help for a better understanding of the term green industrialisation. Virtually all the definitions come from international organisations. There is only limited academic or grey literature on the topic. The chapter will start with definitions which have been given to green economy and green growth. It will then proceed to definitions of green industrialisation and the synonymous term ‘green industry’, set within the context of green economy. It will also introduce definitions of green jobs. Lastly, a definition of the term ‘green industrialisation’ that will be used in this book is given. Green industrialisation has two dimensions to it: greening industry, where industries green themselves, and the establishment of greening services, which deliver the environmental goods and services that the rest of industry (but also the rest of the economy) require to green themselves.
