ABSTRACT
Chapter 10 explains what Data Breaches are and provides examples of them. There is a summary of fines and sanctions that organisations have been subject to as a result of breaches. The chapter goes on to describe how to recognise a breach and what to do in the event of a breach including reporting it and investigating it. The role of the Supervisory Authority is outlined, when to tell them if you have a Data Breach and what will they do. There is a small discussion on staff training, which links to the training advice in Chapter 14 and the training package on the companion website (www.pppmanagement.co.uk/resources).
