ABSTRACT

Mineral governance as a strategy to address human development challenges requires the utilisation of multiple data collection methods and analysis. This is primarily due to the fact that human development issues cut across socio-economic, cultural disciplinary and methodological boundaries. This chapter describes the methodology used for data collection. The book adopts both quantitative and qualitative methods to collect data from the western part of Ghana. The book explores multiple sources of data; that is, primary data and secondary data. In the case of the primary data sources, semi-structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews were used to collect data from the heads of households in the western part of Ghana and other relevant organisations and state institutions.
