ABSTRACT

The rise in the dog-whistle dynamic in respect to school educational policy occurs contemporaneous with the rise of the fake news phenomenon, and is a just another facet of the new era of news reporting where opinion appears as prominent as traditional factual reporting of news. This chapter analyses Dog-whistling school educational policy in respect to racism, Islamophobia and xenophobia provides an initial focal point for description. National immigration policy in relation to national memorial days furnishes common dog-whistle journalism in school education, politics, racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia. The dog-whistle dynamic, also however, is likely to impact school educational policy through the activity of such powerful emerging activities as the CPAC 2019 Sydney gathering. The rise in the dog-whistle dynamic in respect to school educational policy often associated with social media occurs contemporaneously with the rise of fake news. Significantly, the dog whistles are a part of the political process of capturing some political capital from these societal tensions and anxieties.
