ABSTRACT

The Mission Statement could be to achieve efficient delivery of sustainable project deliverables such that the planned benefits for which the projects are initiated and implemented will be harvested, utilised and sustained as planned. Project portfolio tracking is all about measurement. When accurate data is available, strategic decision makers can decide where to invest more, or less, effort. Organisational Project Management (OPM) is an ongoing programme for as long as an organisation performs projects, programmes and portfolios. An organisation’s portfolio of programmes and projects represents those investments that management believes to be most significant and necessary to succeed in its chosen market(s). In order to optimise the capabilities of OPM, a Strategic or Enterprise Project Management Office is necessary. The “Project Portfolio Planning and Management” represents the relationship between the organisational strategy, strategic planning and management activities.
