ABSTRACT

This chapter sets the stage for the discussion of socio-cultural participation of ethnic minority youths in Hong Kong. It discusses how South Asian youths have been ‘minoritized’ in Hong Kong, politically, economically and culturally every day. Recent efforts of minority youths that engage in cultural and political means to struggle for recognition while profess their sense of belonging, necessitating one to adopt perspectives of ‘minority’, which will form the backbone of this book.
