ABSTRACT

Terminology and methods outlined in previous chapters can be used to research in myriad online or physical libraries. There are a large variety libraries in both public and private spheres, although not all are accessible. This chapter examines a selection, including those dedicated LGBTQIA+ collections from international countries. Given the enormous amount of published material being uploaded onto the internet each day, there is a lot to search through on a regular basis. Three of the largest free online book depositories are considered here: Google Books, Internet Archive and Project Gutenberg. The chapter offers advice on the most effective ways to locate LGBTQIA+ content in online collections and how to create personal libraries that can be shared and tagged to widen public knowledge of LGBTQIA+ material. Tips for searching in journals, papers, dissertations, magazines (including the ‘Pink Press’) and grey literature are also provided.
