ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 explains the occurrence of syllabic consonants. Most of the chapter is devoted to the two most frequent syllabic consonants /l/ and /n/. In addition, there are short sections on sequences of syllabic consonants, syllabic /m/ and /ŋ/, and desyllabification.
