ABSTRACT
Chapter 10 returns to stress, this time dealing with the concept of secondary stress. It treats the occurrence of secondary stress before the primary stress; secondary stress after the primary stress; sequences of unstressed syllables; and the stressing of compounds. There is also a short section on the different stress patterns of verbs ending with -ate and -ment as opposed to the same words used as nouns.
