ABSTRACT

People and technology intersect to drive innovation; technology and process intersect to drive automation; people and process intersect to drive scalability. The alignment of all three, people, process, and technology, is a guaranteed win. This way of thinking about the golden triangle framework quickly expands how people define and apply Electronic Health Record (EHR) governance processes. KLAS Research conducted its first studies of EHR usability in 2012 and published its first EHR usability report in 2013. Although EHRs had been around for many years prior, the infusion of $30 billion into the healthcare system from the 2009 Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act accelerated EHR adoption by many organizations. While EHR vendors must continue to improve their systems with a focus on usability, organizations don't have to wait on vendors to improve their physicians' EHR experience.
