ABSTRACT
There is a dearth of empirical and theoretical work on rural women’s experiences of crimes of the powerful. This chapter, then, constitutes an important step toward filling a major research gap. More specifically, it describes some salient examples (e.g., genocide), reviews some relevant theories, and suggests new directions for further research and theorizing. This chapter also theorizes social scientists’ neglect in examining rural female survivors of crimes of the powerful.
