ABSTRACT
The Better way to Excellent results and Success through the application of an appropriate Tool (BEST)-methodology is a vehicle to know whether a process is truly a Best Practice. The BEST-method consists of four building blocks: process, results, enabler, and format. The BEST-method supports top management in attaining process excellence and continuous improvement. Simply overlaying another company’s Best Practice onto another organization may cause disruption with related processes both upstream and downstream from the transplanted process. Best Practices are found mostly in departments such as production, sales, logistics, IT, purchasing, facility management, and finance. The processes for these departments are easier to describe than the “non-tangible” departments such as human resources, public relations, and marketing. A correct application of the BEST-methodology can overcome this complacency. After all, each Best Practice consists of a process together with a key performance indicator.
