ABSTRACT

This chapter covers using your research as the basis for planning strategies. This includes using a SWOT analysis as a way of systematically thinking through research and the overall situation that the team has to address. Part of examining the overall situation also includes determining if there is a prescribed structure that must be accommodated, or if the team needs to take a developmental approach where no structure exists. Where a big-picture, long-range plan needs to be created, the team may need to plan how to manage resistance and increase community readiness, determining what strategies are needed. Then the team will need to plan how the plan will be implemented, evaluated and sustained.
