An organization’s human capital strategy is done outside the strategic plan. In the Strategy Whiteboard, the People strategy is the key enabler to achieving the Strategic Outcomes. As a result, the People strategy is embedded into the overall strategic operating model. People is the fourth Strategic Focus Area and the final piece of the organizational system. Up to this point, a strategic outline has been established for Customer & Market, Product, and Operations. The People Strategic Focus Area contains several critical success factors for companies. When looking at the People Strategic Focus Area, the Strategic Focus, Outcomes, and Actions address many of the organizational components previously analyzed in Strategic Analysis. The People Strategic Focus Area is where the STEEP comes together to drive the people side of the company. The three components of the Foundation block Foundational Strategy, Business Objective, and Core Competency Statement influence the People Strategic Focus Area.
