Rule 1: Magic E makes the other vowel sounds say their names

When e is put at the end of a word, it makes the single vowel in the word say its alphabet name e.g. hope. (Some people say the short vowel becomes a long vowel.) This is also known as split e, split digraph, silent e, mute e.
