ABSTRACT

This chapter consists of four subsections. In the first subsection, we introduce the cultural and religious exchange between Hinduism and Islam in India. In the second subsection, we examine the confluence of the two religious traditions in Maharashtra. In the third subsection, we examine the overlaps between Islam and Hinduism in Kurundwad. In the fourth subsection, we show that the Hindus and Muslims have been celebrating each other’s festivals for centuries and that such practices still exist in Kurundwad. Here, we also indicate that in Kurundwad, both Hindus and Muslims speak Marathi and that on the whole, they still wear similar garments.
