ABSTRACT

As is often the case with any progress, new narrative dimensions are reached standing on the shoulders of giants, often a part of an evolution rather than a revolutionary departure. The new generation of story creators should not be ignorant of well-established and well-working principles, because it provides the groundwork when engaging with new formats and possibilities. For the story experience creator to make detailed choices when working with the complexity of formats and possibilities they represent, it is necessary to deconstruct established narrative structures into smaller events, each with their own attributes. The concept of stories being made up as a convergence of events or moments, adds modularity to a story that allows for looking at each element as a point of engagement and influence; not only towards the audience, but also from the audience and ultimately two-way interaction. The modules have become Micro Stories, each with the possibilities for audience interaction and influences in unique ways.
