ABSTRACT

The people intended to be reached and engage with, regardless of whether the vehicle is a story, message, or any content in general, may be defined by their context as customers, visitors, viewers, users or players. To the story experience designer, understanding who the ideal audience is, and being able to define them and their relation on various levels to a particular narrative are not just useful. Regardless of media, the standard in mediated storytelling is to let the audience gaze into the story and create an emotional connection with the characters, storylines and the storyworld within. Similar to the Story Sphere layers, the audience layers are built from the core and outwards with a range of main layers that each has its own set of sublayers. Just like the Story Sphere layers, the audience layers could be applied in a formulaic manner or as a rigid structure.
