ABSTRACT

Even the best story structure may fail due to a gap between the creator and the audience. The first does not manage to attract or retain the attention of the other who in turn does not choose to invest time, money or both. The audience layers can be viewed as filters that have to be bridged to create a connection with the audience. Challenging the connection may be the audience perception of the creator and the creator's offering, either of which may be deemed irrelevant for multiple reasons. Early concept abandonment takes many forms. It includes theme park feasibility studies, where the investment in new attractions are calculated not to be able to make a profit or even make a deficit. For the Integrated Storyteller, the possible gaps and chasms that have to be taken into consideration are a reminder that a great story does not come alive unless it is welcomed by and engaged with by an audience.
