ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book begins with the first three parts dedicated to the dynamic of an evolving and, thus, changing relationship between the creator, the story and the audience significant to the design of new narrative experiences. Story explores how the aeons-old influence from audiences creating living, responsive storylines has evolved with the audience now being able to interact with and influence the story experience in real time from anywhere in the world. Design takes elements from storytelling and reinvents and realigns them as design objects, creating one part of the bridging that is needed to develop themed or branded experiences where story and experience design come together as one. Audience is dedicated to the actual stars of Integrated Storytelling; the audience. Convergence is dedicated to the importance of the multiple layers of Integrated Storytelling coming seamlessly together to create and maintain a harmonious construction.
