ABSTRACT

Storytelling is not what storytelling was, and the role of the story creator is in a state of constant evolution; it will branch out into various roles and gain different focuses, merging even more disciplines. New ways of thinking and working will be developed, and with them, strategic and creative tools and principles that help bring the evolution of storytelling forward through invention and implementation. Production and distribution accessibility, new technologies and innovative ways of designing and creating story experiences do point to a vision of what is to come; one where the creator and audience are in interchangeable roles, and where being a creator is not an exclusive role, but where the individualised story experience may feel exclusive. Those who venture beyond traditional storytelling are about to embark on a journey that sometimes may be reserved for the bold and the brave. Pioneers at the frontline will face challenges.
