ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at two new buildings, both inaccessible for different reasons and how dance has been used to leverage or create change. The first is an account of a project in Tskuba City, Japan. Set in its own grounds with an impressive plaza, the theatre was felt to be inaccessible to local people, an improvisational dance project opens the building to the wider community. The second looks at a new accessible theatre at the University of Plymouth and how dance was used to highlight issues and persuade the university to invest in architectural change.
