ABSTRACT

An historical perspective on freedom of movement.

This chapter starts by considering how the coronavirus pandemic placed restrictions on movement how this impacted directly our dancing journeys and our ability to create and sustain our communities. It goes on to discuss how migrations (forced and unforced) have featured in the evolution of western dance and how the future of the planet is dependent on our ability to recognize, respect, and support the finely balanced dance(s) of nature’s ecosystems; those micro and global migrations that take place, heedless of national boundaries.
