ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter will further examine the findings revealed from the process of the PhD research training journey and explore the impact on current supervision, concentrating on the significance of the students’ self-evaluation of their biological, intellectual, social and psychological development from their own standpoint. Implications for the improvement of current international PhD research training will also be discussed, followed by a recommendation for a humanistic model for the supervision of international PhD students through a multidimensional process of instruction, inspiration and interaction. The impetus of this chapter, a new “3-I” model of supervision, will be put forward by the authors as a concluding proposal of this book.
