ABSTRACT

This chapter will describe the methodology employed in the study, outlining and explaining the rationale of the current study’s methodological choice. In the first section, the intention is to show how the qualitative approach works well in encapsulating the deeper meanings of the singular and collective lived experiences of research participants (Alase, 2017). The subsequent section will introduce sampling procedures and data collection techniques. Notably, as effective and popular procedures used in qualitative research, the research methods used to collect data for this study are the “critical incident technique” (Flanagan, 1954) and semi-structured interviews. A framework for analysing and interpreting the data to form a representation of their collective experience will also be described.
