ABSTRACT

Prop swords, even with dulled blades and blunted tips, can still be dangerous. This chapter focuses on the many safety aspects for the handling of a prop rapier. Key elements include safety rules for sword handling, proper ways to hold a rapier and numerous technique exercises on point focus and edge focus. Companion website materials are provided, offering additional instruction and techniques. Online Video Assistance (OVA) is also available to supplement the chapter’s written descriptions and illustrations.
