ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the proper mechanics, blade traffic and placement of 12 different rapier parries (and their variations). These parries serve as the defensive actions for the offensive actions offered in Chapter 6. Key elements include ARC (Action-Reaction-Completion), direct parries, semicircular parries, diagonal parries, circular parries, as well as numerous technical exercises (stationary and coupled with the footwork drills from Chapter 2). Companion website materials are provided, offering additional instruction and techniques. Online Video Assistance (OVA) is also available to supplement the chapter’s written descriptions and illustrations.
