ABSTRACT

This chapter starts by describing the case company, HR Consult and the sampling strategy. The interview data was collected using a combination of critical sampling and snowball sampling. The employees interviewed are from the Danish, Benelux and UK offices of HR Consult, which is a small-to-medium-sized global organisation. The chapter introduces the strengths and weaknesses of each prototype. Participants include both consultants, administrative employees and managers. The chapter then argues for using research interviews as a means for employees to engage and this can be termed as Discursive Sensemaking. The chapter contributes to sensemaking theory by building a discourse analysis lens to examine interviews as Discursive Sensemaking. Discursive Sensemaking considers research interviews as narratives of organisational practices infused with employee sensemaking perspectives. The chapter then describes the design of the semi-structured interview guide used in the study.
