ABSTRACT

Reducing teacher workload should be a priority for all schools, but it isn’t. Teaching is a high-stress job and anything classroom practitioners can do to reduce the strain upon themselves should be embraced. This chapter explores the reasons for us, as teachers, to look at our own practice and start reflecting on what we are doing and why so we can start to make informed choices about reducing teacher workload. Teaching smart isn’t about some quick-fix formula or fad, it’s about keeping teaching simple and being more reflective, so you can be more effective. This chapter will have an instant impact on your teaching.
