ABSTRACT
The objective in this chapter is to demonstrate that total productive maintenance is as important as any other in the Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement toolbox. A Coal Face format for carrying out simple non-time-consuming audits on easy to view aspects of machines and equipment by operating personnel that directly link to Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Influencing the mindset of zero accidents, zero defects, and zero breakdowns. No more just tick in the box checklists! To date, I have completed six company TPM programs, four in automotive, one in oil and gas, and one in construction manufacturing, which were visual management orientated. They are simple up to 30-second checks on critical elements – GO SEE and can be compared with Standard and ACT where needed. Frequency-based audits are Daily, Weekly, and Monthly that empower Operators, Team Leaders, and Maintenance. Maximise OEE Performance and reduce COSTS.
