ABSTRACT
Supervision of therapeutic practice is one of the cornerstones of the mental health professions. In fact, most mental health professions require a certain number of hours of supervision before beginning therapists can become licensed. One active experiential supervision model that has emerged to address the issues is the enhances model. The enhances supervision model takes advantage of the parallel processes existing between the supervisor-supervisee relationship and the therapist–client relationship. The key to the enhances model is to structure the supervision process in an active, engaging, and informing manner that will aid the therapist in the process of therapeutic improvement. In many ways, just as a therapist would use the part of the changes model to provide a novel action for generating information, the supervisor uses this part of the enhances model to create a novel action to co-create an appropriate supervision experience for the therapist.
