ABSTRACT

The Grid Method works with a reference grid. It gives the perspective drawing a tangible ground to build up from. It starts by relating a gridded floor plan to a perspective grid to build up “wall grids and floor grid” in perspective first, then fitting in objects. This chapter demonstrates how to set up one vanishing point and two vanishing points perspective grids with step-by-step illustrations. This chapter also demonstrates how to use pre-made perspective grids (including how to modify a pre-made grid) with step-by-step instructions. Special examples on how to use the grid method in non-proscenium theatre spaces are also discussed in detail.
