ABSTRACT
Guy Nordenson Associates and Steven Holl Architects, collaborators of long standing, designed a residential building, Simmons Hall, for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A desire to treat the interior corridors and public programs as spaces of urban infrastructure was a primary architectural goal. The integrated facade, architecture and structure in one system, broadcasts both the architectural intent showcasing the public spaces of the building and the structural logic of the load-carrying system.
